A blend of this year’s scraps and mishaps, turned into something beautiful & one of a kind. Fragranced with Eucalyptus & Peppermint, plus extra charcoal, to help you reflect on, and wash away, 2019. We chose an ancient symbol of protection and good luck for this year’s soap – the Hamsa. We added charcoal until we got a dark roasted coffee bean color, and then hand-painted each soap with gold mica to give the intricate patterning a aged bronze look, like an treasured good luck amulet. (Only, it’s soap.)
Each soap fits snugly in it’s handcrafted, recycled kraft paper box, shrink wrapped in biodegradable wrap. Each soap measures approximately 3″ x 4″ x 1″ at the widest points, and weighs between 3.2-3.8 oz each. These are substantial bars.
This soap is meant to be used, and it will pull moisture out of the air if you leave it in a dish in your bathroom to look pretty, and that will leave an ugly brown charcoal puddle. Use this soap. Watch the charcoal swirl away in the water, like the hard times, hurts, and injuries, and like the tough habits you’ve let go of. Remember that, like this scrap soap, we’re all blends of a thousand million temporary moments, mixed and melded together. Not one of us is exactly the same, but we all have so very much in common.
We’re releasing an initial batch of 40 bars, with another 50-60 curing as December winds down. We have more we’re boxing up and getting ready to go – with plenty more we can make, if it’s needed/wanted! (Steve’s chemotherapy drug trial took everything we had for most of December, and work kinda came to a halt for a bit.)
PS: These bars have A LOT of charcoal in them. It rinses off, but lather definitely is darker. It’s a bit cathartic, truthfully – it makes it seem like you’re actually washing away the year off of your skin.

My soaps are very pleasing to the eye, and even more pleasing to the nose - I can't wait to use them. I also bought one as a gift, and I think my friend will love it.
